This CE-eligible program will provide an understanding of the tax benefits associated with investments made into Qualified Opportunity Funds (QOFs) and Qualified Opportunity Zone Businesses (QOZBs) and when these investments are appropriate for client portfolios. Additionally, the program will cover eligibility, compliance requirements, and risks associated with these investments.

Learning Objectives: 1) How an investment in a qualified opportunity fund (QOF) may be used to defer and reduce tax liabilities for investors with realized capital gains; 2) The requirements for QOFs to be eligible for tax benefits, including location-based requirements and holding period requirements; 3) Understand the various types of asset classes that may be accessed through QOFs.

 

*CE/CPE Eligible: 1 CE credits are available to subscribers with these designations: CFP, CLU, ChFC and RICP. CPA subscribers will earn 1 CPE credits.
