This is session two of a four-part masterclass with expert Denise Appleby that will provide a comprehensive review of the distribution and portability rules for Traditional IRAs, Roth IRAs, and Employer Plans. This session will focus on effective distribution strategies for avoiding excise taxes with RMDs and penalties related to early distributions. Advisors who attend this session will learn how to: (1) help clients retain qualification for an exception to the 10% early distribution penalty, (2) help eligible clients correct IRA custodians' incorrect reporting to claim 10% penalty exceptions, (3) identify mistakes that can result in RMD shortfall for account owners and beneficiaries, learn how to avoid such mistakes, and learn how to correct such mistakes where possible and (4) coordinate qualified charitable distributions (QCDSs) with required minimum distributions RMDs.
