Protecting Against Scams During COVID-19
Presented by Elizabeth Loewy, Esq.

The pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges for seniors and their families. We all know that older people with underlying physical conditions are more vulnerable to the virus. But there are additional life-threatening dangers associated with COVID-19: scammers who have developed new and sophisticated ways to rip off at-risk adults. Seniors are now ‘sheltering in place,’ keeping their distance from loved ones, caregivers, and financial institutions. This has provided ample opportunities for fraudsters, who have ramped up their activity and perfected the art of preying on those who are apprehensive and isolated.

This webinar features Former Chief of the Elder Abuse Prosecution Unit at the Manhattan DA’s Office, Liz Loewy, who addressed:
•    the most prevalent COVID - related scams and the ‘red flags’ of fraud;
•    steps to prevent loved ones and clients from being victimized;
•    offer tips, tools, and resources for seniors, caregivers, and professionals to protect themselves.
