Bitcoin’s blockchain, which allows for peer to peer transactions and the elimination of middlemen, is inextricably linked to bitcoin the financial asset, who’s monetary policy is the exact opposite of fiat currency. Thus, for the first time in history, bitcoin weaves together the currency feature with a payment system without the need for centralized institutions. As a result, demand for this incredibly scarce asset which has historically been uncorrelated with traditional asset classes, is on the rise throughout the world.
