Here are comments from attendees:

Michael: "A friend and former client was working on completing her PSLF form under the new Limited Waiver Rules; I plan to use the knowledge gained from today's session to check on her progress and offer help."

Aaron: "I thought ALL loan forgiveness was taxable until the COVID relief recently 108(f)(5). Good to know PSLF is tax free under 108(f) in general."

Amy: "I wasn't aware that you could consolidate older loans with this program and the process."
The New Rules On Public Service Loan Forgiveness
Presented by Heather Jarvis, Esq.,
Heather Jarvis
A few "new" ideas that our listeners had learned from this session:
  • A friend and former client was working on completing her PSLF form under the new Limited Waiver Rules; I plan to use the knowledge gained from today's session to check on her progress and offer help.
  • I had no idea there was a limitation of correction window for income on your Social Security statement, let alone that it is so short, they really should have to mail those out to everyone if they're going to have rules like that!
  • I thought ALL loan forgiveness was taxable until the COVID relief recently 108(f)(5). Good to know PSLF is tax free under 108(f) in general
  • I wasn't aware that you could consolidate older loans with this program and the process.
  • This has been a 'black box' to me for my entire 20.5 years as a CFP, so it was all new to me. Thanks.
  • This was a very informative session - I am actually going to put to use in my personal life - Great Job!!
  • Will remind all of our NYC employees who didn't think their loans qualified and were very disappointed, to go back and take another look at how the program is evolving and the changes that have temporarily been made!
